Inaugural Springboard Event a Hit According to Attendees, Speakers and Sponsors

SBPHILADELPHIA – Springboard, a special event for emerging franchisors, was applauded by attendees, speakers and sponsors for delivering a successful inaugural conference.

A collaboration between FisherZucker, Fishman Public Relations & Marketing and Entrepreneur Magazine, Springboard was held September 25-26, 2013 at the Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia and brought together nearly 250 franchise executives from 162 different brands.

Lane Fisher and Brad Fishman kicked off Springboard with the conference’s introduction, followed by an opening general session that featured several franchisor founders – including John Rotche of TITLE Boxing Club, Shelly Sun of BrightStar Care and Nick Friedman of College Hunks Hauling Junk – who described their own journeys from an emerging brand to a thriving brand. Throughout the two day event, Springboard also provided those emerging franchisors in attendance with access to a whole host of other industry founders and veterans through a series of clinics, breakout sessions and mentor roundtables.

“This conference exceeded our expectations, both in terms of the valuable, actionable advice from the speakers and the feedback from the attendees,” said Fisher. “There has never been a finer networking opportunity with franchisor principals who have ‘been there, done that’ at any other industry event.”

An attendee survey called out “The Shark Tank Experiment” as one of the highlights of the conference, where emerging franchisors faced off in teams, led by an ad agency, and several industry experts, franchisor and supplier mentors. Each of the four teams were tasked with presenting a development plan for an emerging franchise brand to a panel of judges, who asked comprehensive questions and explained how they would invest a fictional million dollars into one or more of the ideas.

“’The Shark Tank Experiment’ added a fresh element to the conference. It was a high-energy exchange between the teams and judges,” said Fishman. “This was a nice departure from the standard panel sessions I have seen at other industry conferences.”

Attendee Brenda Febbo, vice president of marketing for Rainbow Academy, a chain of early child care educational centers with 15 locations throughout New Jersey, said, “Springboard was an informative conference that focused specifically on our needs. The subject matter was detailed and diverse and covered a wide range of topics relevant to an emerging franchisor, and well within the context of the problems we face daily.”
