Matthew’s practice primarily focuses on intellectual property, specifically trademarks in the franchise context with an emphasis on federal trademark registration, prosecution, maintenance, and management. Matthew has recently expanded his practice to franchise law, including advising his clients on day-to-day legal issues that face each franchise system including, default, transfer, and termination. Further, Matthew’s expanded practice includes drafting and revising transactional documents related to franchise management, including licensing agreements and franchise disclosure documents.

Prior to joining Fisher Zucker, Matthew worked for several years as a litigator focusing on intellectual property, specifically trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights. Further, Matthew worked on various corporate litigation matters including matters involving breaches of contracts, negligence and various other business-related disputes.

During law school, Matthew was the President of Emory’s Sports and Entertainment Law Group. He was also a member of the two-man team that won the 2014 National Baseball Arbitration Competition hosted by Tulane Law School.

Education

Matthew is a graduate of Emory University School of Law (J.D. 2015), and Emory’s Goizueta Business School (M.B.A. 2015), where he became the first person to complete the joint JD/MBA program in 3 years. In addition, he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. from the University of Missouri in 2012.

Admissions

Matthew is admitted to practice in Illinois and Colorado and is currently pending to be admitted to Pennsylvania.
